Deploying Intrusion Detection and Prevention Services with the Cisco Catalyst 6500 IDSM (CAT6K-IDSM) v1.0 1 day Lecture/lab
Course description
As network security threats continue to increase in complexity, multi-gigabit environments and efficient network intrusion security solutions have become critical for maintaining a high level of protection. The Cisco Intrusion Detection Services Module (IDSM-2) works in concert with other Cisco IDS and IPS components to efficiently protect your data infrastructure.

In this course, you will learn how to design and deploy IDSM solutions. You will learn how capture traffic, configure blocking rules, and tune IDS signatures.

Learning objectives
After you complete this course, you will be able to:
  • Design and implement intrusion detection and prevention solutions with the Catalyst 6500 IDSM-2
  • Explain how to deploy and manage the IDSM-2 in a Catalyst 6500 network
  • Explain how to implement advanced intrusion detection and protection services features
  • Capture and analyze traffic through the IDSM-2
Who should attend
This course is designed for Systems Engineers and Field Engineers who need to design and implement intrusion detection and prevention services using the IDSM-2.

Recommended prerequisites
  • CCNP certification or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with the architecture of the Catalyst 6500 platform
